A very nice kit of a tank which was never built, at least in the form seen on the box art (the hull was completed and is on display at Fort Knox, USA, but they never finished an actual vehicle). Given that, it's pretty hard to comment on the kit's accuracy, but it looks good in the box! Individual-link plastic tracks (require assembly).

The first thing that may strike you about this fine kit from Dragon is not the model itself, but the instructions! Instead of the usual line drawings to guide you through assembly, you get a full-color, photographed guide showing the actual parts being assembled! A welcome change from their previously hard-to-follow offerings. Detail in the box looks great. Tracks are individually-molded injection-plastic that require assembly. No figures included.

Kit # 6164 Panther Ausf.D "Kursk 1943" (Sd.Kfz.171)

This fine Dragon offering includes all the parts and decals you need to replicate the first Panther tanks to ever see service or combat -- a vehicle from the 52nd Battalion, 39th Panzer Regiment during the Kursk Offensive in July of 1943 (see box art). Modifications from the earlier Ausf. A release include bow details, cupola, exhaust pipes and more. Includes injection plastic, individual-link type tracks (non-working).

For some reason, Tamiya has never decided to retool their ancient Panther A (TAM35065, from the 1960s) during the period, and Dragon capitalized releasing first the early model (see link below), and now this late model. This is the type with the ball mount MG on the front of the vehicle -- the Panther image that most people probably think of when this tank comes to mind. Every bit as good as the first release.

With the shortages of raw materials in the final years of WWII, a number of Panther Ausf.Ds were converted to run on wood gas or liquid natural gas (propane), these were used for driver training only with no evidence available they ever saw active service. This kit under the Cyber Hobby label represents the propane version and is basically the same kit as the recently released Dragon Panther Ausf.D Premium Edition (kit #6299) with the addition of a few new plastic parts for the fuel tanks and additional metal parts, the kit Premium Edition being in turn based on the previous Dragon Panther Ausf.D (kit #6164).

As anyone who owns a copy of Combat History of Schwere Panzerjäger Abteilung 653, by Karlheinz Münch should know, this particular unit had a penchant for creating unique field conversions on some of their vehicles. One such was a Panther (actually a Bergepanther) Ausf.D chassis that was fitted with a 2cm Flakvierling 38 in the opening reserved for the turret. There is photographic and anecdotal evidence regarding this particular (and unusual) conversion, so it is a perfect fit for Cyberhobbys White Box series of limited production kits.

Air defense has been a key factor for ground troops in every army, since the start of the deployment of combat aircraft in WWI. The German Army's tank troops were strongly threatened by Allied ground attack aircraft during WWII, and they needed AA guns with sufficient mobility to keep up with and guard the tank toops. The Coelian, with its twin 3.7cm guns, was developed from the Panther tank. The Coelian never went beyond the mock-up stage, but its impressive appearance has attracted many modelers over the years. Here's Dragon/Cyber-Hobby's fine kit of the Coelian, with the addition of a set of four "Panzer Rider" figures as an added bonus feature. Tracks are supplied as Dragon's indy-link "Magic Tracks" tracks.

The Panther F was intended to be the final production model of the Panther series. The most distinctive point of design of the Panther F is its turret, named "Schmalturm" (which means, roughly, "slimmed turret"). It aimed to reduce the front projection area compared to its predecessors. The reduction in hit probability would then increase the chances of the tank's survival. Dragon has reproduced this German Panzer Force's possible next-generation tank very nicely; the details are fine. But since there has been about 10 years of progress in Dragon's molding technology since the first release of this kit, you might be better off replacing some detail parts like the jack and tools with contemporary, finer ones from your junk parts box. Tracks are lnjection plastic separate track link type. A photo-etched set for the engine grills are included. No figure included.

The Coelian is based on the Gunze Sangyo Panther G with some new dragon parts (turrets) which is not bad for a 1989 kit. Since the original existed only as a mock up, it's hard to criticize it for accuracy. Individual link tracks, and no PE grills in the box.

Shanghai-Dragon is an offshoot of Dragon (DML) proper. Typically they reissue Dragon kits at a discount price. The Panther G was unusual as it was released originally by Shanghai-Dragon. At least that is what Dragon claims. Although this is marketed as "All New Tooling" there is a lot of Gunze in this box. The engine hatch cover molded onto the hull is reminiscent of the old "High-Tech" kit, and the roadwheels are a dead give away. Out of the box this will build a very handsome Panther G and there is no need to supplement any of it unless by choice. The 7.5cm barrel cleans up perfectly, with care, and the included link to link caterpillars are very nice with the obvious omission of the hollow guide horns

This is the same as #9045 but set up as a command tank and without the IR equipment mounted, and with the change of the conventional wheels to a full run of steels plus the command aerials and commander's "broomstick" cupola scope.

Jadi apabila dijumlahkan semua panthers yang dikeluarkan dalam keluarga Dragon, terdapat 28 jenis kit Panther setakat ini.
