| 38 ekor kambing seludup bernilai RM14,000 dirampasPADANG BESAR 24 Nov. ...gambar hiasan.. | |

| Penghantaran MALCON-ISAF tiada kaitan dengan AS 2010/11/30

Malaysian ship hijacked
NAIROBI (Kenya): Somali pirates have hijacked a Malaysian-flagged ship with 23 crew members on board in the Indian Ocean the European Union’s anti-piracy task force said.
It said yesterday that the Kenya-bound MV Albedo was seized about 900 nautical miles east of Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu.
The ship originated from the United Arab Emirates’ port town of Jebel Ali.
The anti-piracy force said the Malaysian-owned ship was seized on Friday and the crew hailed from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Iran.
Somalia has not had an effective government for 19 years, allowing piracy to flourish off its coast turning it into a perfect refuge for criminal gangs.
Piracy has long been a problem in the Indian Ocean off Somalia.
Both AFP and AP had reported that pirates now hold 22 vessels and 521 hostages.
On Aug 19, 2008, the Bunga Melati Dua, with 29 Malaysians and 10 Filipinos on board, was hijacked at 10.09pm.
Then on Aug 29 that year, Bunga Melati Lima, with 36 Malaysians and five Filipinos on board, was hijacked in Yemeni waters at 9.50pm.
The ships were released by Somali pirates after a ransom was paid.
Media reports claimed the MISC had paid US$2mil (RM6.9mil) for the release of each vessel.
Following these incidents, an international conference on piracy was organised by the Malaysian Government asking the United Nations to coordinate maritime force operations to suppress piracy off the coast of Somalia.
Government officials, and representatives of naval and shipping bodies who gathered for a two-day meeting organised by Wisma Putra, felt that successful mechanisms established by the littoral states of the Straits of Malacca must be adopted.

Terror suspect tied to Medan bank heist By AMY CHEW newsdesk@thestar.com.my
KUALA LUMPUR: A suspected Indonesian militant involved in the RM139mil robbery of a CIMB Niaga bank in Medan, Sumatra, was arrested in Malaysia recently as he tried to smuggle weapons back to his country for terror activities, according to a regional counter-terrorism source.
The suspect, Fadli Sadama, 27, is believed to have planned to use the weapons to attack an Indonesian prison holding convicted terrorist Toni Togar.
The source told The Star that Fadli was arrested on Oct 13 as he was travelling to Johor in a bus.
Fadli had two revolvers, which he had bought at Sg Golok, Kelantan, the source added.
Toni is believed to be the mastermind of the Medan CIMB Niaga heist in August and several other bank robberies in North Sumatra, according to outgoing Indonesian national police chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri.
“Toni is capable of controlling the Medan terror cell from behind bars,” Danuri was quoted as saying by the Jakarta Globe.
Fadli is allegedly a long-time supporter of Toni, who was jailed for 20 years for his involvement in the 2003 JW Marriot Hotel bombing, the Christmas eve bombings of 2000 and the 2003 robbery of Lippo Bank in Medan.
Toni, who is being held at the Pematang Siantar Penintentiary in North Sumatra, is expected to be moved to Jakarta for questioning soon.
Fadli is believed to have helped plan the daring CIMB Niaga robbery, where 16 heavily-armed men stormed the bank, shot dead a police officer and seriously wounded two bank security guards.
The Medan terror cell is said to have links in Aceh, where one of its training camps was located.
Another Indonesian man, allegedly involved in the Aceh terror training camp, was arrested in Shah Alam on Sept 29.
The regional counter-terrorism source identified him as 25 year-old Taufik Marzuki, a former member of the now-defunct separatist Free Aceh Movement (GAM), which waged a 29-year insurgency against Jakarta.
“Taufik came to Malaysia to hide after police discovered the Aceh training camp.
“We don’t know how he got to Malaysia,” said the regional source.
Taufik fled to Malaysia when Indonesian police raided the Aceh training camp last February, in which three policemen and a civilian were killed.

| Cessna 402B decommissioned 2010/12/03 Adrian David
KUALA LUMPUR: After faithfully serving the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) for 35 years the twin-engine, propellor driven Cessna 402B became a part of history when it was decommissioned, yesterday.
At a simple ceremony at the RMAF base in Subang, its chief Gen Tan Sri Rodzali Daud did the honours. He said one of the Cessnas would be sent to the RMAF Museum in Sungai Besi, with the rest used for the teaching of technical courses.
The RMAF took delivery of 10 Cessna 402B initially for advance flying training of its pilots at the No. 1 Flying Training School in Alor Star, Kedah in 1975.
Another two were utilised for aerial photography by the National Survey and Mapping Department. Of the 12, at least three are learnt to have crashed.
However in 1983, the arrival of an initial batch of 44 Pilatus PC-7 turbo trainers replaced the Cessnas along with the single-engine Bulldog B108, used for basic pilot training.
While the Bulldogs were used by flying clubs and to help keep senior pilots maintain their ‘currency’ (keep their flying licence active), the Cessnas were moved to the No. 2 Squadron at the RMAF base in Sungai Besi to help train pilots for multi-engine conversion.
In 1987, three Cessnas were depatched to the RMAF base in Kuching, Sarawak. In 1993, the Cessnas began service with the No. 4 Squadron at the RMAF base in Subang, with a detachment deployed to RMAF Sungai Besi.
In 1997, the Cessnas became part of the No. 20 Squadron at Subang.
Rodzali said the Cessnas served well for other functions like for military and civil communication, mercy missions, search and rescue, reconnaissance and even for VIP flights.
He added the Cessnas also trained the country’s first women transport pilots Lt Zainab Sharif and Lt Fadzillah Abdullah.
Another significant story of the Cessna was when three of it - the Spirit of Malaysia I, II and III - took part in the Malaysian International Air Race ‘90 that flew between Langkawi and Paris. Former RMAF chief Lt Gen Tan Sri Mohammed Ngah Said led the team.
Meanwhile, Rodzali presented scrolls to 32 young officers who graduated from the Air Force College in Alor Star, during a parade earlier in the morning.
Capt Mohd Norazman Rameli was adjudged the best overall cadet.
Rodzali also presented flight safety awards to five pilots who flew aircraft without any incidents or accidents.
They are majors MiG-29 instructor Sebastian Arokiaraj William who had clocked a total of 1,404.6 flying hours, AS61-N1 VVIP helicopter pilot Narulnizam Razali (1,533.9 hours), Hercules C-130 VVIP pilot Tan Thian Khim (2,346 hours), S70A Blackhawk helicopter pilot Sharudin Miskam (1,620.2 hours) and helicopter instructor Rosli Hashim (1,546 hours).
Major Rozman Shah Abdul Rahman was presented with a Green Endorsement for safely landing his F-5E jet at the Butterworth base despite the aircraft’s right main wheel came offf after take-off.
Warrant Officer I Hardy Mohamad Haron and Sgt Shahrizal Abu Bakar were named `Airmen of the Year 2010’.

Jadi, adakah perlu perang dulu baru nak naik gaji," katanya. | NGV Tech To Build Training Vessels For Malaysian Navy - Quote :
- KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- Shipbuilder NGV Tech Sdn Bhd is collaborating with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd (DSME) to construct two 75.9-metre training-cum-patrol vessels for the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN).
"In the period of 24 months, we will collaborate to design, build and deliver the naval vessels," NGV Tech Executive Chairman Datuk Zulkifli Shariff told reporters after the contract signing ceremony here today.
"DSME will do the retail design; the vessel blocks will be transported to Malaysia and we will start joining it together at our 24-hectare shipyard in Sijangkang," he added.
NGV Tech builds about 40 ships annually, generating about RM500 million in revenue.
Zulkifli said the company had previously built and delivered naval vessels for foreign countries but the new units were bigger and more elaborate and sophisticated in design and capabilities.
"This will be our maiden project with the RMN. And with our local manpower and experience to be derived from DSME, we are confident that we will produce superb marine vessels for them," he said.
He also revealed that both vessels would be worth about RM150 million to RM180 million each depending on the negotiation outcomes.
Meanwhile, NGV Tech has also offered DSME to design the Multi Role Support Ship (MRSS) which the RMN has a need as well.
"We will start the retail design as per the requirements of the RMN and once orders have been confirmed, we can start building immediately," he said.
Currently, the company is in talks with other potential MRSS buyers, namely Nigeria and Egypt.
"By doing the design first, we can save about 20 months as designing this kind of vessels is time consuming, especially when MRSS is a large vessel which is 157 metres in length," he said.
He added, the MRSS could cost potential buyers about RM1.2 billion to RM1.3 billion each.
Present at the ceremony today were former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed and DSME President and Chief Executive Officer Nam Sang-Tae.
Nam said the deal with NGV Tech was the first of its kind for DSME.
"I think this is a good starting point for us although we do not see any significant impact in the near term," he said, expecting more collaborations with NGV Tech in future. | |
