Kamaz.

"Iveco Petronas De Rooy" beated the Kamaz, beated the Tatra, beated
the MAN. Or: Again the Dutch stop the legendary Kamaz Dakar winning series -
like 2007 the MAN with Hans Stacey. Or: The Italian truck-brand Iveco celebrates
his first Dakar-win ever.

But there were quite a few milestones to mention: 30 years ago, father and team
manager Jan de Rooy took his first victory in the truck league with his DAF
2800, with nose. In the meantime it’s also 25 years ago that the same legend
won the truck league again with his DAF Turbo Twin II.

From today onwards we can start with a new legend: Son Gerard de Rooy
gloriously took over the baton from father Jan de Rooy. From the first day
onwards he knew how to manage the new De Rooy Iveco. He was on the lead from
the 4th stage onwards and in total he took 5 stage victories. Some days the
Team de Rooy was very dominating, especially in the 12th stage when they took
the first 4 places.

Also the 2nd place is for Petronas Iveco: It’s Hans "Racey" Stacey,
nephew of Jan de Rooy, who underscored the performance of the team. For Stacey
also a new milestone: 5 years ago he took the 1st place in the Dakar with the
MAN Team. This rally he had too many slight problems to win and took 4 times
the 2nd place. Full marks for the professional attitude of the Dutch oil
trader.

Today’s round was a round for the sponsors, friends and family and of course
the Peruvian public. Team De Rooy´s Miki Biasion finished first in 27:22
minutes. It was the 3rd victory of the very sympathetic Italian in the Dakar
Rally 2012. Due to 2 bad-lucks days Biasion had to be satisfied with the 6th
place.

The fast service trucks completed the picture. "Ok, Jo Adua had an off-day
yesterday and also Pep Vila had a bad day but at the end the Spaniard Pep Vila
took the 11th place" reported the team. Frenchmen Jo Adua, who took the
5th place overall until yesterday, took the 16th place at the end.

Team manager Jan de Rooy made it to start with 5 Iveco trucks and to finish with
5 Iveco trucks. "This will be continued - that´s for sure" reported
the team in the evening.

Acara Motor melalui projek KTM

The project with KTM has been inspired by Y.A.M Dato' Seri Syed Razlan and
Datuk Redza Rafiq, Chief Executive of NCER, Northern Corridor Economy Region, a
government agency under the Department Of Prime Minister. It is being executed
by the private incorporated company Motonation Manufacturer Sdn Bhd,
spearheaded by YAM Dato' Seri Syed Badlishah and other directors and has been
facilitated for KTM by Selvaraj Narayana, Director- Logistic and Sales South
East Asia.

KTM is currently expanding its interests in the South East Asia merging markets
and has a CKD project to assemble the latest 200 Duke and 690 Duke models
targeted for the Malaysian market. It is therefore delighted to confirm this
partnership that links Malaysia to the international racing success of KTM and
to the Dakar Rally, said KTM spokesperson and special motorsports consultant
Heinz Kinigadner. He added that KTM hoped the sponsorship partnership with
Malaysia would also be the beginning of a firm future partnership.

“Malaysia is a country that has a growing interest in international motorsports
and the high media and sports profile of the Dakar Rally makes it an ideal
platform to help convey this message. The Dakar Rally not only delivers high
profile news and images of one of the highlights of the motorsports calendar,
it also represents the ultimate dream adventure of all motorcycle enthusiasts,”
Kinigadner said.

In 2012, KTM is attempting to win its 11th consecutive rally with a factory
team spearheaded by two of the world’s greatest exponents of rally sport. Marc
Coma, the current title holder and Cyril Despres are not only teammates who have
both had a long-term relationship with KTM, they have also each won three Dakar
titles. The 2012 edition of the race therefore represents the extension of on
the motorsports’ most exciting sporting rivalries. A large proportion of the
riders entering the 2012 Dakar Rally, both professional and passionate
privateers – many of whom are fulfilling the dream of a lifetime – have chosen
a KTM machine for their challenge.

Stephane Peterhansel and Cyril Despres win Dakar Rally

FRENCHMEN Stephane Peterhansel and Cyril Despres have won the Dakar
Rally, completing the final stage two weeks after the race began in Argentina.



Peterhansel won Dakar for a record 10th time and Despres added his
fourth title.


"This is without a shadow of a doubt the toughest Dakar I've ever
raced in," Despres said.


"It was difficult physically, but even more psychologically.
Challenging yourself every morning and fighting on the course takes its toll on
your mind."


The final special stage was only 29 kilometres long and both leaders
took it easy on the last day.


Peterhansel in the cars category and Despres in the motorbikes almost
wrapped up the title on Saturday, needing only to avoid a major catastrophe to
climb the podium.


Despres saluted fellow Frenchman Peterhansel.


"There's only one Stephane Peterhansel in the world," Despres
said.


The 46-year-old Peterhansel has won Dakar six times on motorbikes, and
now four times in the car category. His last victory was in 2007 in cars and he
has been racing Dakar since 1988.


Despres was unsure about making his own switch.


"I don't know if I'm good at driving cars - I've never tried,"
Despres said.


This is the fourth straight year the Dakar has been run in South
America.


The past three years, it was run in a loop course from Buenos Aires to
Chile, and back to the Argentine capital.


This time, the rally began in Mar del Plata in Argentina, skipped Buenos
Aires, and worked it way across Argentina, crossed the Andes to Chile, and then
headed north through the Atacama desert into Peru.


American Robby Gordon in a Hummer won the final stage with Peterhansel
in a Mini finishing off the pace - three minutes, 12 seconds behind.


In the overall standings, Peterhansel wrapped up the rally by finishing
41:56 ahead of Mini team-mate Joan Roma of Spain, and 1:13:45 in front of
Giniel Devilliers of South Africa in a Toyota.


In motorbikes, Pal Anders Ullevalseter of Norway won the final stage.
Despres was 3:51 behind and, like Peterhansel, needed only to play it safe to
guarantee victory.


Despres finished 53:20 ahead of KTM team-mate Marc Coma of Spain in the
overall. Helder Rodrigues of Portugal, riding a Yamaha, was third - 1:11:17

tahniah petronas.....tp aku sendiri kalo bole nak tgk rakyat malaysia sendiri yg naik podium dlm ape2 motorsport race internationally(world class).sbb ni sport paling aku minat...rally dh ade..karamjit sigh.bekas F1 drivr alex yoong(ape jd ek kat mamat tue?)..lebih2 lg melayu...heheheh...no sentiment ok..juz proud to be malays and of coz malaysia.....my blood n soil.....
